Hey Misty!
ReplyDeleteGreat post! As leaders we often forget that we are also apart of the team. There are so many leaders out in the world who are not team players but expect others to respect them based on the label. This does not establish great teams or dynamic, instead they cause the team to fail. How do we as the new generation of educational technology leaders change this and set a positive example. Great teachers, like leaders model and serve by example. People learn from mistakes but without the first example, people will not feel like they are apart of the team which can ultimately lead to failure.
Hello Misty, I never thought of myself as a team leader. Once I started teaching and collaborating with other educators I realized the importance of leadership and the positive or negative affects in has on others. I have been with leaders who were not team players, it was their way or the highway. I have also worked with leaders who were positive, encouraging, and a pleasure to work with. I pray that I am a positive leader to those I work with on a daily basis. As you stated, we should lead by example. People will follow your lead when they see you actively working along side them and not you just telling them what must be done. Educational leaders should strive to be the role models and mentors for all new teachers. Luke 12:48 "For unto whomsoever much is given, of him much shall be required". be blessed.

ReplyDeleteThe quote by Frank Clark is a wonderful quote. I posted this on my Facebook account and received 25 likes. Every leaders, not just technology should have this quote posted in their office. Another great quote of (Clark, 2014) is "We find comfort among those who agree with us, and Growth among those who don't." I have worked with leaders that tried to please everyone not tell them when they wear wrong because they were friends with them. As a technology leader you have to make sure you treat each teach, administrator, or faculty the same. According to Romans 2:11 NIV, for God does not show favoritism. I notices leaders favor one teacher over another because he feels that teacher is doing everything by the book.
